Today saw our opening fixture take us to pastures new, in the form of Hullbridge Sports. The game was set up to be a good encounter between two teams that were eager to get off to a good start. The first half was a close affair with neither team making the most of their chances and Signet probably just edged the half. However it was hard to see either team making a clear goalscoring chance from open play and in thats how it was throughout the game with Signet scoring the opening goal from a Ryan Heywood free kick and they worked hard to keep the lead. However with just a few minutes to go, Hullbridge had a forward brought down for a free kick on the edge of the box, to be fair it looked like it was just in the area however the referee decided it was a free kick. It mattered not as the free kick was excellently struck and hit the far corner of the net to level the game. Overall this was probably a fair result but signrt will feel the game was there to be one if they had made a few more chances.
